Obituary

VEYSI – Guzin, passed away May 7th, 2012, at her home in Tulsa with her beloved family by her side. Guzin was born in Nicosia, Cyprus on May 21ST, 1925, preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Mustafa. They had a wonderful life full of family and friends in Maryland, but decided to move to Tulsa to be closer and more involved with their daughter and 2 grandchildren. These family members were the joy of their life. Furthermore, the Veysi's have resided in Tulsa for the past 25 years. Guzin always put the well being of her family ahead of her own demonstrating an enormous amount of character along the way. She was an amazing wife forming a bond with her husband that one could only dream about and their love only grew stronger with time. She was generous and instilled in her family strong values teaching them the true meaning of integrity, honesty, compassion, loyalty and trust. She was a very humble and proud, yet extremely elegant woman that touched the lives of many people and never met anyone that wasn't her friend. Although she constantly worried about the safety of her loved ones, her motto was, "don't worry, be happy". She was blessed with great-grandchildren over the past few years. They brought her so much happiness and are blessed to have had time getting to know such a great woman and role model. Our family is honored and blessed to have had such an incredible person in our lives. Our lives are forever rich from the love she shared with us. We will miss her each and every day. Guzin's family wishes to thank Dr. Brannon Spillars, Dr. Joseph Lynch, Norma Felkner, Marla Watts, Grace Hospice and First Call for their compassion and making her last weeks more comfortable. Guzin is survived by: her daughter, Zehra V. Atkinson and her husband Jim, Tulsa; her adored grandchildren, Berna Goetzinger and husband Layne, Oklahoma City, Ty M. Ertugrul and wife Alisha, Tulsa; and her great-grandchildren Madeline Mae Spillars, Oklahoma City, Aspen Marie Ertugrul and Holden Altay Ertugrul, Tulsa. Funeral Service will be held at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012; prayer will be held at the Islamic Society of Tulsa at 2:00 p.m.; and burial will follow Calvary Cemetery.
