Harriett Elizabeth Donovan, 98, peacefully passed away at home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
A memorial mass will be held at Church of Saint Mary in Tulsa, at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 26.
Harriett was born on August 28th, 1919, in Lovell, Wyoming, the youngest of three children, she was the daughter of James and Eva Hovis. She graduated from Lovell High School and attended the University of Wyoming. While in school, she met and married her loving Irishman, Joe Donovan, in 1941.
After Mr. Donovan returned from serving in the US Navy during WWII, they became the proud parents of their two children, Patricia Donovan and Michael Donovan. The Donovan's lived in Thermopolis, Wyoming, Sidney, Nebraska, Casper, Wyoming, Houston, Texas and finally Denver, Colorado, where they lived for 32 years, before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near their daughter, Tricia, her husband, John R. Arend and their loving family in 1996.
Harriett loved volunteering, enjoyed playing bridge and treasured her many dear friends. She was an accomplished pianist and loved singing in her choir. Her insatiable curiosity and restless spirit fueled her interests in visiting new places and reading novels. She enjoyed conversation, and her outgoing nature, beautiful smile and keen sense of humor made her a joy to be around.
Harriett leaves many loving memories and is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Crissy, of Ashland, Oregon; son-in-law, John R. Arend; grandchildren, Dennis Arend, John J. Arend and his wife, Zoe, Tiffany Arend Campbell and her husband, Stuart Campbell, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Justin Donovan and his wife, Michaela, Jesse Donovan and his wife, Marika and Syrah Donovan, of Ashland, Oregon; and Kelsey Donovan, great-grandchildren, Patrick Arend and his wife, Shana, of Jenks, Oklahoma and Mason Rydbom, Slate Donovan, Miles Donovan, Sydney Donovan, Reese Donovan, Sophia Donovan and Ava Donovan of Ashland, Oregon; great-great-grandchild Madden Arend, of Jenks, Oklahoma, and numerous friends from throughout the country. The family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from her beloved caretakers in her final years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Dale and Bill; husband, Joseph Donovan in 1998 and her precious daughter, Tricia Arend, in 2011.
