Harry Martin Jones Jr. passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the age of 91. He was born July 2, 1919, at Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Harry M. Jones (Sr.) and Catherine Alice Penney. He was married to Arlene Oneida Sogge on March 17, 1945, at Scotland, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris M. Walsh; his brother, Robert H. Jones; and his loving wife of 65 years, Arlene. He is survived by his children: Kenneth Jones of Tulsa; Christine Haley of Tulsa; David Jones of Kansas City, MO; Catherine Jones of Tulsa; Thomas Jones of Scottsdale, AZ; Philip Jones of Olympia, WA; Patricia Williams of Fishers, IN; and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Harry was an employee of American Airlines from 1940 until his retirement in 1984, and worked in various places across the country for them before settling in Tulsa. From 1944 to 1946 he took a leave of absence to serve in World War II as an aircraft instrument mechanic in the US Army, Squadron C, 561st Army Air Force Base Unit. He met Arlene in Denver, Colorado while he was on a pass from the Army. Harry worked hard to care for and support his large family. He was a quiet man with a subtle sense of humor. He and Arlene attended the Church of the Resurrection in Tulsa for many years. Memorial gifts may be made to Neighbor for Neighbor. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm Friday, October 15, 2010 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.
