Haskell Harris Bass, Jr. M.D., 87, of Tulsa, died on February 8, 2018 peacefully in his sleep. Funeral services will be held at All Saints Anglican Church Saturday at 10am.
Dr. Bass was born on June 6, 1930, in Bradenton, Florida, the son of Haskell Harris Bass, Sr., and Edith Eppes Bass. He grew up in the Bradenton area, graduating high school from Riverside Military Academy in Georgia class of 1948. He continued his education, pursuing his passion of medicine. He completed his undergraduate work at Emory University, then attended Tulane University for medical school, followed by a residency in Baltimore, Maryland, and fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He then relocated to Tulsa where he began his medical practice with his colleague, Dr. J.D. Shipp.
In August of 1958, he married Patricia Elizabeth Smith, in Washington, D.C. Throughout their 59 years of marriage they enjoyed spending time with one another at Grand Lake, boating, socializing and traveling with friends. Dr. Bass enjoyed playing tennis, spending time with his dogs and flying, having attained his pilot's license in 1958.
He is survived by his wife; Patricia S. Bass, of Tulsa, OK, children; Haskell H. Bass, III, of Tulsa, OK, Patricia R. Schneider, of Tulsa, OK, Elizabeth A. Bass, of Henderson, NV, and Robert J. Bass, of Tulsa, OK, two grandchildren, Kaylie M. Schneider, and Barrett A. Schneider, both of Tulsa, OK, sister, Edith Thompson, and other extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Eleanor Ganey.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Dr. Bass's name to The American Cancer Society.
