Obituary

SPEAKER, Hazel Ruth Beattie, 93, died June 7, 2009. Born November 25, 1915, in Tulsa, OK, to William W. Beattie and Lucy Esther Voorheis. Hazel attended the University of Tulsa. She married James Byron Speaker on August 29, 1935. She was a housewife and mother, living a good and full life, loved by her family, and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Josephine L. Beattie, her brothers Richard L. Beattie and William W. Beattie, an infant daughter, Susan, and her much loved husband James Byron Speaker. She is survived by daughters, Jo Jeanne London, Tulsa, Sandra and Melvin Hoppock, Bartlesville, OK, her sons, James B. II, and Shirley Speaker, Arlington, TX and Robert Beattie and Patricia Speaker, Stillwater, OK. Grandchildren, Shelley Hopkins, Ghent Hopkins, LTC. Merle London II, Nathan London, Kimberly Speaker, Shannon Speaker, Robert B. Speaker II, and Andrew Taylor Speaker, 13 great grandchildren. The family asks in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to St. Simeon's Home and St. Francis Hospice. We are very thankful for all of the kindnesses and care that was given to our mother and grandmother in her life there. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the funeral home and Funeral service will be at 2 pm, June 11, 2009 at at Memorial Park Chapel. Arrangements are with Fitzgerald's Funeral Home.
