Helen Jordan Bonfield died August 1, 2012. She was born November 9, 1926, to John and Mary (Dougherty) Jordan in Casper, Wyoming. She graduated from Monte Casino High School in 1943; and went on to the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority while attending OU. Upon graduation in 1947, Helen moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where she vivaciously lived the next 55 years of her life!
Helen taught at St. Helena Parochial School as well as Hobbs Public Schools. She continued her education with a Master's Degree in Reading. She was an active member of St. Helena's Catholic Church (and Altar Society), Panhellenic, and Literary Club. She moved back to Tulsa in 2002. Helen was admired and respected by all who knew her for her sense of humor and straight forward "tell it like it is" approach to life. She loved her family and friends, lived her faith, and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Helen is survived by her 5 children (and spouses): Michael Bonfield (Linda) of Cloudcroft, NM; Mary Jordan Taillon (Terry) of Augusta, MT; Anne Parsons (Rick) of Tempe, AZ; Julie Gray (Robert) of Humble, TX; and Joanie Dinneen (Henry) of Tulsa; as well as grandchildren Drew and Gretchen Parsons of Tempe, AZ; and Jordan and Eileen Elizabeth Biggs of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sally Jordan, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 7:00pm at Church of the Resurrection; and a Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 10:00am at Church of the Resurrection. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Catholic Charities.
