Obituary

Helen S. Corcoran passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 7:00 p.m., at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was the fourth child of John and Gertrude Sheehan, born on November 22, 1923 in Tulsa. Helen started her education at Sacred Heart Catholic School (now known as Marquette) and graduated from Monte Cassino High School in 1941and then attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, Kansas.  After World War II she met and then married Robert Charles "Bob" Corcoran on June 14, 1947. They raised 7 children who in turn blessed her with 36 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; two sons, Tom and Chris; daughter, Libby; and her brothers and sisters, John, Bob, Gertie, Tom and Joanne. She is survived by her children, Barbara Progar of Spring, TX; John Corcoran (and Chrys) of Joplin, MO; Chuck Corcoran of Cypress, TX; and Connie Potter (and David) of Tulsa. Helen, a native Tulsan, was a member of one of the founding families of Christ the King Church.  Some of her favorite activities at Christ the King included knitting for the Kings Quilters and Crafters,  participating in St. Charles Guild activities, contributing to the Marquette Elementary School Library, and participating in Girl Scouts with her daughters.   Her community services included volunteering at St. John Hospital, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and she was an active member of the St. Gianna Interment Gown Sewing Guild. Helen loved her rose garden, enjoyed traveling, loved being with family and friends, loved to hear children's laughter dancing through the house, hosted family gatherings for any special occasion, had an good eye for design, spent many an hour wandering through shops to bring joy into her home. Her legacy to her family is unconditional love. Rosary on Friday, at 7 PM, and Rite of Christian Burial on Saturday, at 10 AM.
