Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Madden, age 95, died August 20th, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Helen was born May 17th, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents William E. and Jessie E. Crowl Morse.
She graduated from Glenview High School class of 1946 then furthered her education with secretarial classes at Fenn College (Cleveland State University).
She worked as a secretary until marrying Joseph P. Madden on October 19th, 1957.
They had two children and made their home in Richmond Heights, Ohio until moving to Jenks, Oklahoma in 1974.
While her children were young, Helen volunteered at their school library, was a den mother for Boy Scouts and an assistant Girl Scout leader. During this time, Helen under went surgery for breast cancer and became a 51 year survivor.

In Tulsa, Helen and Joe were lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where Helen volunteered for many years.
Helen worked for the Tulsa City-County Library at the Jenks branch, from 1977 until retiring in 1995.
She was also a founding member of the Jenks Garden Club and was an active member of the local women's bowling league until she was in her mid-80's.
From 1996 until 1999 she volunteered at Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa, giving tours to elementary school groups.
During her life Helen was able to visit South Africa, Ireland, England, the Panama Canal and many popular landmarks and theme parks in the U.S.
Her family and friends remember her as a wonderful person of strong faith, patient, kind, thoughtful, welcoming and generous with a love of nature and lifelong joy of learning.

She is survived by her son Jim Madden (Tom Richardson), daughter Mary Ellen Tomson ( Joe Tomson ) granddaughters Megan and Maria Tomson, son-in-law, Don Glowe, grandson Justin Glowe, step daughter Camilla Madden ( Greg Bilberry) and grandson Brennan Bilberry.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph P. Madden, parents William and Jessie Morse, brothers Edward, Tom and Jim Morse, step son Joseph P. Madden Jr. and step daughter Monika M. Glowe.

On Saturday, September 9th, a visitation will be held from 10-10:30 AM with a Rosary at 10:30, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers Helen requested donations be made to the Tulsa Botanical Society or Oxley Nature Center. Helen would have liked everyone to wear the colors of nature to the service, if you would like to do so.
