Helen Joan Nevins, age 89, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4th, 2022 at Canoe Brook Assisted Living in Broken Arrow, OK.
Joan was born on Oct. 6th, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph and Helen Gavin. She was the second of four children.
She moved to Tulsa, OK as a teenager and graduated from Marquette Catholic School.
Joan married James Reed Nevins on Aug. 22, 1953. They had five children.
Joan is survived by her children Mike (Laurie) Nevins, Cathy (Jim) Burke, Jim (Becky) Nevins, and Tom Nevins, eight grandchildren Dustin Wheeler, Tim Wheeler, Lindsey Chapman, Kyle Nevins, John Nevins, James Nevins, Jason Nevins and Denise Jenson as well as 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jack (Martha) Gavin, her sister Anne (Richard) Hackl and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reed, her daughter Mary Nevins, and her sister Rosemary Gavin.
