Obituary

Herbert Mahlon Jelley passed away in his sleep June 3rd, 2018, shortly after his 90th birthday. Herb grew up in the small town of Hastings, Minnesota. After finishing high school in 1946, he served in the occupation forces in Korea. When he returned from Korea, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota where he met his wife Donna when they rode together to hear Billy Graham in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were married one year later in 1952, and soon after moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where Herb completed his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education. He is a professor emeritus of Oklahoma State University and past president of the American Council on Consumer Interests. During his academic career he authored 5 textbooks and numerous articles in professional journals. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf with his sons and was a prolific reader.

In retirement, Donna and Herb moved to Tulsa to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Herb is survived by his sons, Dave and wife Martina, Steve and wife Julie; five grandchildren, Hannah, Elisa, Brendon, Ben and Garrett; and his brother, Hugh Jelley. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna.
