We are honoring Herman Rock Scallan, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Cemetery Chapel with a reception following at Fitzgerald Southwood Family Center in Tulsa, OK, where he and his family reside on August 29, 2025.
Herman Rock Scallan, Jr., 68, died August 20th, 2025, after battling cancer. Herman was born in Marksville, LA and built a life filled with hard work, cherished friendships, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
He graduated from Marksville High School in 1974 and worked many years in wholesale operations for various beverage companies. He had a strong faith in God and never hesitated to help anyone in need.
Herman loved hunting, fishing, football (Geaux Tigers!), holiday traditions, and family gatherings accompanied by good food, which he often prepared. He had many catch phrases or what were called "Herman-isms" that his family and friends still use today. He had a knack for telling stories that kept everyone engaged, laughing, and were filled with little lessons.
Herman loved being a grandfather and adored his four grandchildren Laylah Grace Soerries, Aiden Michael
Soerries, Naomi Yun Scallan, and Ezekiel Rock Scallan. The grandkids often referred to Herman as "Super Papa" which they will always hold dear to their hearts.
Herman had a loving family, and they will miss him more than words can describe. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vickie Joy Rabalais Scallan, his daughters Jessica Rose Scallan Fidler (Brett Fidler) and Sarah Grace Soerries (Adam Soerries), and son Kalan Rock Scallan (Huazhen Scallan), his stepmother Patricia Scallan, bother Mike Scallan, sisters Leslie Roy, Carla Couvillon, Dr. Elise Scallan, Teenie Laborde, Toni Fritzgerald, Julie Lewis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Rock Scallan, mother Lethia Marie Mayeux Scallan, and oldest brother Adrian Scallan.
Herman's love, generosity, and kindness for his family and friends will be forever remembered and cherished. His legacy of traditions and his many stories will be carried on.
