Hiram West passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 20. He was ninety-two years old.
Hiram was born in Birmingham, Missouri, one of twelve children to Pearl and G.B. West. As a boy he worked on their farm, hunted and fished with his brothers and sisters.
Hiram was a World War II veteran of both the Merchant Marines and the Submarine Service. Hiram was a graduate of Finnaly Engineering College in Missouri.
Moving to Tulsa, he was employed by Public Service. He attended mass and sang in the Holy Family Cathedral choir, where he met his wife, Marie Clair. He became an electrical contractor, starting Hiram Electric Company, Inc., which was successful for thirty years.
Hiram was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved music and also sang in the Tulsa Opera chorus.
Hiram is survived by his sisters: Annetta Smith, Lorene Hopkins; daughters: Catherine Sanders, Marion Gardner, Annetta Whitney; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Rosary will be 5:00 p.m., Sunday at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday at Holy Family Cathedral. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
