Howard I. Burns passed away June 9, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Howard was born March 31, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Francis (McCormick) and John Burns. He was a devoted husband and father, his family was the light of his life. He was a born salesman and enjoyed a long career in sales. He was owner/partner of Tulsa Cash Register Co. for 20 years before retiring in 1994. He began his sales career with NCR in Brooklyn, NY before embracing his entrepreneurial spirit and becoming a successful business owner in Tulsa.
Howard proudly served his country from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He attended NYU in New York before starting his career. He loved his family, friends, faith, and a good laugh. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor and quick wit.
Howard was proceeded in death by his parents John and Francis Burns, his brothers Joseph, Robert, and John. Survived by his loving wife Rose, daughters Janine (Mike) Williams, Allyson (Tim) Brown, sons Howard (Nami), Craig (Magen), and Blake (Tracy). Grandchildren Alexandria Pack, Michael, Myka and Brynn Williams, Joshua and Connor Brown, Dylan Burns, Blake Urquhart, Brooke, Donovan, Preston, Ashlyn and Braden Burns.
Visitation: Monday June 13 from 6 – 8 PM with Rosary at 7 PM both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 3612 E. 91st Tulsa, OK 74137. Service: Tuesday June 14 at 1:00 PM at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 4001 E. 101st St., Tulsa, OK 74137. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association 2448 E 81st St., Tulsa, OK 74137 or Miller Hospice, 6950 S Utica Ave., Tulsa, OK 74136.
