IRENE JOSEPHINE (NORWILL) MCILROY
Irene McIlroy died peacefully on Feb. 7, 2018. She was born June 18, 1918 in Chicago, to Joseph and Marie Norwill, both Lithuanian immigrants.
She met her future husband, J. Arthur McIlroy, at the Army Officers club in Chicago. They married Aug. 18, 1945 and moved to Tulsa in 1949. Art worked as a patent attorney for Standard of Indiana while Irene stayed at home with their two sons, Robert Norwill McIlroy, of Norman, OK, and Arthur A. McIlroy, of Tulsa.
Irene was active in Bridge clubs and volunteered for a number of years at the Tulsa Psychiatric Center. Irene will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, in addition to a compassionate and caring friend. She was a much beloved resident of the Kaiser Health Care Center at Zarrow Pointe.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Genevieve Schmidt, of Aurora CO; and her grandson, Ross McIlroy.
Survivors include: sons, Robert and Arthur (wife Bonnie); and three grandchildren, Emily McIlroy, Sean McIlroy, and Paige McIlroy Young.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., on Monday Feb. 12, 2018 at Fitzgerald's Funeral Service downtown, followed by a 7 pm Rosary in the Ivy Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Feb, 13, 2018, 11 am, at Christ the King Church, Tulsa.
