Isrella Taxon was born on April 8, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, and died on September 18, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 97.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Anna Shapiro; her husband, Seymour; her siblings, Molly Katz and Seymour Shapiro; and her daughters, Ronna Taxon-Einhorn and Mindy Prescott.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Harris Prescott; her grandchildren, Rachel Cooper (Jon), Alex Prescott, and Ari Prescott (Jai); and her great-grandchildren, Esti Prescott, Shai Prescott, and Jack Cooper. Isrella was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Isrella worked at a Montessori school in Brooklyn. Upon moving to Tulsa, she helped open The Noshery, a Jewish-style deli located in Woodland Hills Mall. She also worked at Metropolitan Life, where she served as an executive secretary for many years.

Isrella was a performer who loved to sing, dance, and act. She performed at many Senior Shabbat luncheons and sang with B'nai Emunah's Klay Kodesh. She also starred in B'nai Emunah's production of "Tales from Chelm," a musical adaptation of the works of Shalom Aleichem, alongside her daughter and granddaughter.

Isrella will be remembered for her zest for life, her sense of humor, and her love of Yiddish music and language. She was one of the faces of Zarrow Pointe, where she resided for 16 years. Known and loved by all, she was often featured in its promotional materials.

In lieu of flowers, Isrella's family asks that donations in her memory be made to Congregation B'nai Emunah, Zarrow Pointe, or a charity meaningful to you.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, at Congregation B'nai Emunah, 1719 S. Owasso Ave., Tulsa, followed by burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 4161 E. Admiral Pl., Tulsa. A shiva service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, at Congregation B'nai Emunah.

A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, in the Burnstein Auditorium at Zarrow Pointe, 2025 E. 71st St., Tulsa.
