Obituary

Jacqueline Nicole Cox ("Jackie"), age 47, died on June 29, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jacqueline was born on December 24, 1978, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Rita Rodrigues Gates and Pete Marriott. She graduated from Edison High School in 1997. She was known throughout school as a social and fun-loving person, and she had many school friends who remained close with her throughout her life.

Jacqueline worked at Alpha Medical Laboratory as the Director of Operations for nearly nine years and was the heart and soul of the laboratory. She was beloved by her co-workers as a hardworking employee who was generous with her time and her heart. Her co-workers were a second family for her.

Jacqueline had many longtime friends who would describe her as loyal, honest, kind, dependable, and beyond anything - loving. If Jacqueline said, "I'll be there," she was there. She was happy to help host any party and to make her guests feel welcome. She was also happy to tell you her honest opinion, and as best friend Misty Freeman described her, "she was a straight shooter" who was also "fiercely loyal, endlessly giving, and loved unconditionally." She was resilient, overcoming many challenges and obstacles throughout her life.

Jacqueline's life was forever changed when she brought into the world her two daughters, Isabella and Amelia. She loved her girls more than anything in the world, and she would do anything to protect them. She enjoyed their involvement in competitive dance and became very close to their dance family. Jacqueline considered her daughters to be her greatest accomplishment in life.

Jacqueline's mom, Rita, was her best friend and biggest supporter. Throughout her adult life, Jacqueline enjoyed many talks and dinners at her favorites restaurants with her mom and stepfather, Robert. Following the death of her mom, Jacqueline remained close to Robert and their extended, blended family, and they leaned on each other through unimaginable grief.

Jacqueline is survived by her two daughters, Isabella Cox and Amelia Cox; brother Julio Melendez; stepfather Robert Gates; step siblings Crystal Goldesberry, Nathan Gates, Rachel Bates, and Gina Nerger; nieces and nephews Bentley Melendez, Braden Gates, Cannon and Ava Gates, Evan and Madison Bates, and Jack and Anna Nerger; Aunt Christina "Yaya" Rodrigues; Uncle Demecio Rodrigues; and many cousins and long-time friends.

Jacqueline is preceded in death by her mother, Rita Gates; her grandmothers, Joan Rodrigues and Betty Marriott; her grandfather, Luis Rodrigues; and her great grandmother, Ruby Rodrigues.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
