James O. (Jim) Beaird, 80, of Tulsa passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012. He was born in 1922 in Idabel, Oklahoma, and after graduation served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was awarded The Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. Following this service, he joined Southwestern Bell Telephone, where he successfully served in various capacities for over 30 years until his retirement. Jim was a congenial and generous man, and the focus and love of his life were his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hughes Beaird, four sisters and his parents. Jim is survived by a son, Brian D. Beaird, his wife Cathy, a stepson David P. Hughes, his wife Leslie, as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held Friday, April 13, 2012, followed that same day by a memorial service at 12:00PM at Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel. 918-291-3500
