James Evert Becker, age 84, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Tulsa. He was the son of Benjamin and Fay (Vaught) Becker, born on June 3, 1926, in Clearwater, Kansas.
He married Margaret Busse Keim.
James was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and especially enjoyed golfing on the Lakeside Golf Course in Oklahoma City. He was a writer for "Outdoor Oklahoma" and many other magazines. He worked for the Oklahoma Wildlife Department.
James was an active member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Moore, OK, for many years and St. Pius X Catholic Church for the past three years. He was involved with the Cursillo Movement of the Catholic church, an associate member of Precious Blood and a member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; step-children Mike Keim, Rita Keim, both of Tulsa, and Thomas Keim, of Oklahoma City; sons, Steven Becker and Robert Becker, both of Little Rock, AR; sisters, Dorothy Wolf, of Wink, TX, Georgia Thomas, of Kansas City, MO, and DeLoise Stats, of Seattle, WA, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you consider a donation to the St. Pius X Catholic Church Library Fund, Tulsa, OK.
Rosary will be 7 PM, Friday, January 28, 2011, and a Memorial Service will be 10 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2011, both at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1727 S. 75th E. Ave., Tulsa.
