James Stephen Francis, age 82, passed away at home on Thursday, August 23, 2012. He was born August 10, 1930 in Hutchinson, Kansas to James C. and Margaret (Johnston) Francis.
Jim moved to Wichita as a young boy, attended Blessed Sacrament School, Robinson Junior High, graduated from Wichita East High School in 1948, graduated from the University of Kansas and the University of Kansas School of Law.
He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Jim and his father had their own tax law practice in Wichita until 1975 when Jim came to Tulsa to work at Touche-Ross. Later he joined Morse-Sexton as their tax attorney and finally was Controller at Campbell Wholesale Co., where he retired.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William, and first wife, Judy. He is survived by his wife Nancy; son James and his wife Robi and grandson Taylor, of Broken Arrow; son Steven Francis of Tulsa; son Michael Palmer of Tulsa; daughter Susan Ferguson, grandchildren Aaron and Margaret, and great-granddaughter Adie of Wichita; brother Robert Francis and wife Connie of Moore, Oklahoma; and sister Michelle Whatley and husband Wesley of Wichita, Kansas.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel.
