Obituary

James ("Jay") William Miller, Jr. was born on June 20, 1949, to James and Mildred Miller, and after a long battle with cancer, passed peacefully into eternal life on November 22, 2025.

Jay grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and graduated from Muskogee High School. After high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He later married and started a family. Jay was the devoted father of his two children, Julie and Christopher. He helped coach their baseball and softball teams and volunteered on the St. Joseph Home and School Board. He owned and managed Jay's Liquors in Muskogee for 18 years. He was creative and clever, writing funny poems and songs. He loved planning trips and was known as the "cruise director" among his friends when they would go on vacations.

He and his family eventually moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where he had a successful career in residential real estate with Coldwell Banker for 33 years. He mentored his long-time assistant and friend, Amber Anaya, inspiring her to get her real estate license. In 2019, his daughter, Julie, got her real estate license and he mentored and coached her. Jay took a lot of pride in working with Amber and Julie - they became the Jay Miller Team.

Jay loved to travel and vacationed to Mexico often where he met his wife, Susana. For many years they enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their families. In the last year, they adopted their dog, Adam.

Jay is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Miller, his father, James Miller, and his infant sister, Mary Lou.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Susana Mariscal De Miller, his former wife, Susan Haslett, with whom he shared two children, his sister, Suanne (Doug) Horton, his brother, Jerry (Jody) Miller, his children, Julie (Doug) Scott, and Christopher (Lauren) Miller, and his grandchildren, Caroline, Preston, Cole, Quinn, Josephine, Paul, Max, Gianna, Bernadette, George, Faustina, Blaise, Gus, Titus, Philomena and Rex as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jay was known for his hardworking nature, playful sense of humor, and spirited love for his friends and family. He will be deeply missed.
