Dorothy Janell Sparks French, age 82, passed away on December 1, 2016 at her home in Tulsa from a long battle with cancer. Janell was born in Conroe, Texas on November 9, 1934 to E.T. and Myrtle Sparks. She grew up in East Texas and attended Tyler Business School before beginning her career with Atlantic Richfield in the early 1950's. Her career with ARCO spanned 35 years and included stops in Tulsa, Denver, and Midland. Bill and Janell later retired to Tulsa in 1989 to be closer to friends. She was an active member and held an office of The Desk and Derrick Club. Her activities included being a member of her gardening club, an avid Girl Scout Leader, an MYF mom and a Marchging Band mom. Janell was preceded in death by her husband William, her sister Earlene Sparks Swanner and her brother Larry Sparks. She is survived by her brother Melvin Sparks, her daughters Jennifer French McAlpin and Jessica French, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in South Tulsa on Tuesday December 6 at 1 PM. Visitation is Monday 6-8 p.m. The family would like to thank Miller Hospice for their care. And a special thanks to her loving caregivers Kelli, Annette, Diana, Rebecca, Nikki, Ginger and Aundrea for all their love and care.
