Janet Mary Gerlach Gilder, 85, homemaker, Tulsa, died peacefully on July 13, 2015. Janet was born May 26, 1930, to LuLu Mae (Folsum) and William A. Gerlach, in Omaha, NE. She spent her childhood summers enjoying her paternal grandparents' farm in Nebraska. She graduated high school from Muskogee High School and attended Muskogee Junior College where she met her future husband. She worked in a chiropractic office as well as for Texaco in Tulsa, OK before her marriage.
She married Don L. Gilder in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on July 3, 1953, and became a stepmother to Cynthia Ann Gilder. She was married to Don until his death on January 3, 1995. Together they had two children, Don Norman Gilder and Jamie Gilder. She was a loving wife and mother; she was very involved in her childrens' and grandchildren's lives. She cared deeply and gave immensely with a sense of integrity, morality, discipline and responsibility that she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Gilder Bayley (Dusty);grandchildren, Michael Corey (Katie), Brian Gilder, George R. Mullican (Sue), and Lisa R. Mace (Chris); 5 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Grant Mullican, Lainey and Collin Corey, and Braxton Mace.; as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sylvia and Susan; husband, Don; stepdaughter, Cynthia; and son, Norman.
Friends can honor Janet with donations to the Tulsa Rose Garden or the American Cancer Association.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 South Boulder Avenue, Tulsa.
