Janet Louise McGrath was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on May 13, 1960 to Francis Leland Hill and Marie Ruth (Weis) Hill. She passed from this life on Friday, October 30, 2015 in Tulsa. She was 55 year old.
Janet first came to Tulsa in 1967 when Williams Pipeline Company transferred her father, Francis L. Hill, from Kansas City in the acquisition of Great Lakes Pipeline. She was enrolled at Madalene School, along with her brother, David, and sisters, Gail and Ruth, when she started in second grade. She was the youngest of four. It was in that same second grade class that she met her future husband Jon Michael McGrath. When Madalene School closed, she transferred to Marquette School.
Janet graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in 1978. She followed her brother and sisters to the University of Tulsa where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at TU. She owned Jack' N Jill Children's Shop at Mayo Meadow Shopping Center, located at 21st and Yale, until 1990.
Janet Louise Hill married Jon M. McGrath on November 23, 1990 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Janet started her nursing career at Doctors Hospital. She also worked at St. John Hospital before settling into a long career at St. Francis Hospital, working most of her career in the Vascular Access (IV) Department. Janet strived to treat everyone with the same compassion and expert care.
Janet had a tireless work ethic. Her passion was providing the best for her children. She was also a very giving person and loved to make people feel welcome and keep everyone in good spirits.
She is survived by her husband, Jon M. McGrath; son, Jon Michael McGrath II; daughter, Jenna Marie McGrath, all of Tulsa, OK; brother, David Hill of Midland, TX; and sister, Ruth (Hill) Ellis of Edmond, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gail (Hill) Boardman.
Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 S. Boulder Avenue, on Thursday and Friday, from 9 am until 5 pm. There will be a Rosary starting at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2015, followed by a reception and visitation in Fletcher Hall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015. All services at Christ the King Catholic Church, 16th and S. Quincy in Tulsa.
