Janice Anne O'Brien, born to Charles Henry and Imogene (Wilson) Browning August 24, 1933 in Bartlesville, OK, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, May 20th.
Janice graduated from Will Rogers High School Tulsa, OK in 1951. She went on to attend Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
While based in Kansas City, MO as a Braniff Airways flight attendant, Janice met Lt. Lorenzo James (Jim) Daleo, USAF. They were married March 21, 1954 at Langley Air Force Base, Langley, VA. Jim was killed while testing a plane September 7, 1954. A daughter, Laurie, was born on March 21, 1955, on their first wedding anniversary. Janice later married John L. (Jack) O'Brien in 1957. They had two children, Erin (born in 1958) and Bill (born in 1960).
Janice returned to school, graduating as an RN from the St. John School of Nursing in 1970. For the next 30 years, she utilized her compassion and skills as an Intensive Cardiac Care nurse and later as the corporate nurse for the Williams Companies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter, Erin. Janice's surviving family includes her sister Diane Barkett; her son Dr. Bill O'Brien and his partner Gordon Walter; Laurie and Joe Sando (her daughter and son-in-law) along with grandson Cameron Alvarez, and Joseph and Katie Sando with their son Mack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tulsa Humane Society from where she adopted her beloved rescue dogs Casper and Dudley.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 25 at 1:30 PM, Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 918-291-3500.
