Obituary

Jason Ray Cotner was born March 4th, 1977 in Tulsa, OK where he was welcomed by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

His first big trip at the tender age of six months was with Mom and Dad to Colorado for a camping and hiking (in a backpack on Mom), fishing and motorcycling (belted to Dad) adventure. Annual trips to Colorado sparked a lifelong passion and love for the great outdoors and fishing.

Although Jason was an only child, he enjoyed many moments of playing with his cousins and visiting with his aunts and uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents.

When Jason attended McClure Elementary School he enjoyed participating in school plays, taking field trips and playing football and baseball. He also made many lifelong friends.

At Grandma and Grandpa Cotner's, Jason enjoyed riding the go-cart (with Dad and later by himself), helping Grandpa drive the tractor, and riding on the trailer to deliver plants to the nursery sales lot.

Jason's junior high school years were spent at Thomas A. Edison in Tulsa.  A continued interest in junior high, was in football, where Jason, his teammates and excellent coaches enjoyed much success.

As Jason's high school years continued at Edison he made many lifelong friends. Jason participated in a special event with the school orchestra and was in marching band where he enjoyed playing the baritone sax.  With the marching band, he participated in numerous area parades. A highlight was marching in national finals competition in Chicago. In 1995, Jason and friends donated and planted two dogwood trees in front of the high school in memory of those lost in the Oklahoma City bombing. He graduated from Edison in 1996.

Jason worked in the family nursery business.  He also trained and worked as a welder and a heavy equipment operator.

He loved cars of any kind and spent untold hours working on them, rebuilding several from the ground up.

On September 1 of 2007 Jason married Christy Baker in Estes Park, Colorado, near the mountains that they loved.  On June 5 of 2009 they welcomed their beautiful little daughter Sadie Lynn Cotner to this world.

In addition to Sadie and Christy (Arnold), Jason is survived by his parents, Jim Cotner and Susan (King), his grandmother Geraldine Lively and numerous family members.

Jason spent many enjoyable hours together with his grandmother and close family members, which included playing board and card games, especially their favorite game, Aggravation.

Jason is dearly loved and his family and friends will deeply miss his friendship, loyalty, hugs and smiling face.  Jason, we will hold you forever in our hearts.
