Jean Stevenson Williams died peacefully August 16th, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Parsons, Kansas September 17th, 1928, the second of two daughters, to Clara Christine and Charles Earl Stevenson. During the Depression, Jean and her family moved to Arkansas where they settled in Ft. Smith. After graduating from high school, Jean accepted a job as a medical secretary at St. Vincent's Hospital. Jean met Eddie Williams on a blind date in the summer of 1949. They were married in February of 1950. Jean was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling, reading, entertaining friends and spending time with family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Christine Hand, and her husband of 59 years, Lawrence "Eddie" Williams. Jean is survived by sons Lawrence E. "Larry" Williams Jr. and his wife Hannah of Owasso, Steven J. Williams and wife Susan of Tulsa; daughter Melissa Ann and husband Bryan Hermick of Naperville, Illinois; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held August 19th, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a rosary following at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20th at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church. Family requests that memorials be made to Las Manos de Christine (The Hands of Christine,) a family founded organization to educate underprivileged children in Guatemala.
