Obituary

Homa Jean (Jeanie) Sevier Tipton, 92 years, passed away peacefully in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 13, 2016. Jeanie was born in Dallas, Texas to Alex and Mae Sevier on November 9, 1923. As a child, she grew up on a farm in Milford, Texas and later moved with her family back to Dallas to attend high school and business school. After she graduated she worked at Sears to help her family during the Great Depression. Jeanie attended Pearl and Bryan Church of Christ in Dallas, where she met her husband, Max Tipton. Max served in the US Army for 4 years. During this time they were married in Baltimore, Maryland on June 12, 1944. After the war they settled back in Dallas where all three of their children Julie, Mark and Penny were born. Jeanie was a beautiful example of a Titus 2:3-5 woman and she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to being a godly example and teacher of God's Word. Over the years she ministered to her family and countless children and women in churches in Dallas, Waco and Abilene, Texas. Max and Jeanie spent 36 years in Abilene where they were members of Minter Lane Church of Christ and founders of Abilene Community Church. Jeanie taught Ladies Bible classes during most of those years. Countless women learned how to be women of God at her feet. "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news." Max and Jeanie retired to Hillsboro, Texas in 2004 and then moved in 2015 to Tulsa Oklahoma. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings, her son Mark Lane Tipton, her son-in-law Dean Borden and her beloved husband Max, who passed away 2 months to the day before her....together again in eternity rejoicing before the Throne of God! Jeanie is survived by her daughter Julie Borden of Plano, Texas, Penny Prulhiere and her husband Rob of Tulsa Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Borden of Plano, Mark Borden of Plano, Joshua Borden of Denver, Peter Prulhiere of Tulsa and Sarah Prulhiere of Tulsa and many precious nieces, nephews and cousins.
