Obituary

It is with extreme sadness but the blessed assurance of her Heavenly reward that we announce the passing of Jeanne Elise (Buenz) Kollmorgen. Jeanne was born on October 12, 1935, in Ida Grove, Iowa. Surrounded by the constant care of her loving family, Jeanne passed away on March 8, 2025, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 89. Jeanne is survived by her four children and their spouses, Steve (wife Mary), Linda (husband Steve), Nancy (husband Sammy), and Terry (wife Susan); nine grandchildren, Mark (wife Rachael), Lauren (husband Eric), Chelsea (husband Justin), David (wife Megan), Michael (wife Brianne), Sawyer (wife Miranda), Scott, Rachel (husband Kevin), and Christine; 14 great grandchildren, Elliot, Collins, Hallie, Marshall, Bennett, Tatum, Adelaide, Madeline, Dutton, Stetson, Hollis, Teddy, Stevie Jeanne, and Hewitt. Proceeding her in passing are her beloved husband of 67 years, Gerald "Mark" Kollmorgen; her parents, Lester William and Frances C. Buenz; and her brother, James Richard Buenz.
Growing up in Charter Oak, Iowa, Jeanne met her high school sweetheart, Mark Kollmorgen, and they were later married on December 19, 1954. She received a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University and used her teaching, administrative, culinary and hospitality giftings throughout her lifetime.
Jeanne launched her early career as a high school Home Economics teacher. A natural hostess and talented cook, she served as the Cafeteria Manager at Bishop McGuiness High School as well as the hostess and event coordinator at Epworth Methodist Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her culinary talents were not only enjoyed by friends and family but the many guests she served at her restaurant, The Nibble Nook. In addition to her delicious food, her servant heart and gracious spirit of hospitality endeared both her staff and patrons to her.
Jeanne was a woman of great faith and led women's Bible studies in her home. She enjoyed her role as President of the Christian Women's Club of Oklahoma City. Seeing women's hearts knit together in fellowship with one another and with the Lord brought her great joy.
Jeanne loved music, sports, travel, and beautiful flowers. Throughout her life, she enjoyed attending plays, musicals, and concerts (especially when her children or grandchildren were performing). She was an avid lover of beautiful flowers, and her flower garden brought her great joy. In addition, she enjoyed planning family trips. Over the years, she created many memorable family vacations that produced rich, lifelong memories in the hearts of her family. Throughout her life, she was an avid sports fan. As a high school cheerleader, Jeanne had a life-long passion for sporting events, in particular cheering on her grandchildren as well as OU football, basketball, and women's softball.
A devoted wife, patient and loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Jeanne's life created an enduring legacy. Her infectious laugh, sense of humor, and kind and generous spirit left an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was well-lived, and she ran her race with great grace. We look forward to the day we are reunited with her in heaven.
"You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11
