Jennifer H. Fariss
Jennifer Fariss, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend to so many, passed away at home in her sleep early Monday morning, September 14, 2015, due to complications from Sjögren's disease. Jennifer was born on November 6, 1949, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Mary Lou and Kenneth Hagerdon. She grew up in Ponca City, and graduated from Oklahoma State University. Jennifer began her career as an accountant at Peat, Marwick, followed by Cities Service in Tulsa, as one of the only women in her field. She later worked as CFO and COO of Quaker Chemical, and at her retirement was the president and owner of Advantage Buildings and Exteriors, which manufactured commercial building exteriors.
Jennifer was passionate throughout her life about helping others in need. She was generous through her actions and giving in her friendships. She volunteered formally through the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, and informally helped many through her direct touch, whether the employees at Advantage, her many lifelong friends, her family who she cared for very deeply, or even the fortunate dogs who found their forever home with her. She was welcomed into Glory by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her intellect, faith, and wisdom will be missed each day.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ed Fariss, and his children, Barker Fariss (Brandie) and Kristie Schwab (Bob) and their children; her daughter, Nisa Horn Bradley (Truman), and their children. Her sister Gail Hagerdon White (Dave) and her brother Kevin Hagerdon (Karen) and children also survive Jennifer, in addition to an extended family of in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Pl, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, at 1421 S. Boston Avenue, Tulsa 74119.
