Obituary

Jeraldine "Jerry" Edison

Jeraldine "Jerry" Schwemin Haas Edison passed away August 5, 2018 at her home in Tulsa after a long illness. Born in Newkirk, Oklahoma, November 6, 1929 to John and Mary (Horinek) Schwemin, Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Haas, and husband, Leo F. Edison, Jr.

She is survived by: her three children and their spouses, Sandra Harrell (Kent) of Tulsa, David Haas (Kimberly) of Bixby, and Shirley Cleveland (Dave) of Broken Arrow; and four step-children, Liz Fielding (Greg) of Cleveland, OK, Leslie Edison and Robert Edison, both of Phoenix, AZ, and John Edison of Tulsa. She is survived by sister, Patricia Thompson of Irving, TX; sister, Donna Jackson, and sister-in-law, Annetta Schwemin, both of Tulsa. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margie and husband, Bill Cummings, of Dallas, sister, Kathy, and husband, Jerry Lamb, and her brother, Jack Schwemin, all of Tulsa. She leaves 8 grandchildren and their spouses, 19 step-grandchildren and spouses and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jerry graduated from Marquette High School in 1947 and attended business school in Tulsa. Her first husband, Jim, passed away prematurely leaving her a widow at 25 with three small children. Her faith, determination, and strong work ethic helped guide her thru years of raising her children alone. She worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary's School and then subsequently for a local accounting firm. Following her marriage to Leo Edison in 1969, she worked as his assistant in Edison & Associates. She and Leo enjoyed 39 years together, working, traveling, raising children, and enjoying life.

Faith and family were the center of Jerry's world, and her love of both sustained her throughout her life. She also loved gardening, sewing, traveling, her pets, and her many friends. She remained active, maintained a beautiful home and remembered all her family and friends' special days with a card and a handwritten note. "Christmas at Grandma's" was always a very special time for her large, boisterous family. She belonged to the "Morning Dew" homemakers group for 45 years and played bridge monthly with her high school friends.

She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, as well as her faithful dog, Wendy.
