Born March 30, 1920 at El Paso, Illinois to John M. and Kathryn (Hindert) Lyons. Married Dorothy E. Kientzle December 7, 1942 at Pittsfield, Illinois. She died December 26, 2004 in New Orleans, Metoirie, Louisiana.

He is survived by 2 granddaughters, Joanna Mary Rogers, New Orleans and Jeanne Marie Lyons, North Dakota. One great granddaughter, Ashlyn Rogers, Tulsa, OK. Also survived by a sister Rosemary Briardy, Lawrence, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Elizabeth Lyons. Three brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

He served in the US Army, June 1942 to January 1946. He graduated from El Paso High School, El Paso, Illinois and obtained his Ph.D. in Agronomy from the University of Illinois. He was employed by Turner Seed and Plant Food Co., Pontiac, Illinois, Mid-South Chemical Co., Memphis, Tennessee, Agrico Chemical Co., Memphis, Tennessee. In 1972 he became part of Agrico, one of the Williams Companies where in 1977 he served as Vice President of International Marketing Seoul South Korea, 1981 Agrico Hong Kong, 1983 Agrico Trinidad. He retired from the Williams Companies October 1985 to enjoy years with his family and lots of gardening, golf, and painting. He especially found great joy being the care taker of the flower gardens at his parish Church of the Resurrection.

He was a member of Church of the Resurrection and had a great love for his parish family. He was past Grand Knight of Pontiac, Illinois Council of Knights of Columbus #854. As long as he was physically able enjoyed the game of golf with his golfing buddies.
