Obituary

Jerry Donald Short, 73, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home in South Tulsa after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Louise (Hamilton) Short; his two sons, Craig Short and Ryan Kruger; his two daughters, Darcy Saltsman and Katie Kruger; his two sisters, Linda White and Mary Ernest; his three grandchildren, Mike Field, Madison Field and Josh Hallika; family throughout Kansas and Oklahoma; and an amazing array of close friends.
Born in Coffeyville, KS, the son of Geraldine and Earl Short, Jerry grew up on their farm in Tyro, KS. While Tulsa would become the city Mr. Short called home most often and for the last 28 years of his life, it was a great sense of travel and adventure that took him to all 50 states and abroad. After finishing high school in Kansas, his life-long adventure began. He strung power cable through the Kansas countryside, relocated to California and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963-1968, received a degree from Cal State Fullerton, played semi-pro baseball for the California Angels, and worked on rockets that propelled us into space. Creating businesses in the field of electronics and technology, however, became his passion. His final project, MemoryBistro.com, was recently launched and will continue his legacy. While Mr. Short enjoyed the thrill of starting companies and developing business plans and strategies, family and friendships was his proudest achievement and he shared them both with everyone. Few people have successfully fostered as many deep and lasting friendships over as many years as Jerry.
