Obituary

Joan M. (Prater) Williams, Tulsa Native, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, and friend. Lived August 3, 1924 to December 18, 2015.

Joan graduated from Will Rogers High School – Tulsa, in 1942. Took journalism classes at Tulsa University. Worked in Marketing for Southwestern Bell. Member of: Tulsa Porcelain Artists; Library Volunteers for Learning to Read Program; Telephone Pioneers; Saints Peter & Paul, and Saint Bernard Roman Catholic Churches.

Mrs. Williams loved her church, family, friends, traveling, socializing, china painting, wii-bowling, playing cards, and Christmas lights. At one point in her life, she was a real "sharpshooter" with a rifle. Joan was also partner in a catering business named, "Loved at First Bite." She and 2 close friends – Marjorie (Farley) Snyder, and her sister – Virginia (Farley) Elliott operated the business. Each partner had a specialty food area. The business was a great success.

For more than 50 years, Joan lived at the same address in Tulsa. "Shortly" after her friend Virginia moved into Burgundy Place independent-living apartments, she decided it was time for "moving on" to a new stage in her life. Joan became a very happy resident of Burgundy Place. Many new friends "came her way."

She loved her life at Burgundy and all the wonderful people who were her friends there, including the staff. Some of her fellow co-workers and friends from Southwestern Bell ended up living at Burgundy. This made Joan very happy.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by Husband – Nelson F. Williams (1958); her parents; a brother – Walter; her parents-in-law; sister-in-law (Mary); Son – Michael F. Williams (1982); Good friend – Margie Snyder; and several others.
