Joanne Louise Alderman, was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 13, 1941, to her parents, Ernest E. and Madeline (West) Alderman. She passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Joanne served in the US Navy for 4 yrs (1960-1964). She graduated with a master's degree in geriatrics from OU. She served as president of NGNA (National Geriatric Nursing Association) for several years. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in the ICU, then at Doctors Hospital, then at Tulsa Regional Medical Center (now Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital), and then finally at Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (now part of OSU Medical Center).

She is survived by her lifetime partner of 65 years, Kathleen Stien, and her brother, Dennis Alderman.

Joanne loved animals of all kinds. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel Funeral Home, 1402 S Boulder Ave, in Tulsa. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery on Friday, October 11th, 12:30 p.m., with Navy honors.
