Joe passed from this life on August 10, 2024 at 88 years of age. He was born on October 24, 1935 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Miguel O. Ramirez and Aurora Mercadanti Ramirez. He graduated from Charles Page High School in 1955 and was a member of the Sandite football team.
He served in the United States Army in Germany and was proud to be Veteran. He worked at the Sand Springs Fiberglass facility for several years, then began work at the Sheffield/Armco facility in the post shop until his retirement.
He had two loves in life, his wife Vera, who passed in 2008 and Cathryn Paul, who he knew from grade school, he was devoted to each. Although, he did not have any children of his own, he was the favorite Uncle to his nieces and nephews. He almost always had a smile on his face and was quick to point out things he found amusing. If you dropped by to see him, he always offered you a cookie, which also happened to be his favorite treat along with ice cream.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Rodolfo and Miguel and two sisters, Aurora and Teresa.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Chris Ramirez of Virginia Beach, Sherrlyn Bardwell and her husband David, of Edmond, Rudy Ramirez and his wife Janet of Greenwell Springs, Brenda Brady of Tulsa, Lisa Woods and her husband Tony of Tulsa, Cecilia Stansill of Tulsa, Bernadette Flowers and her husband Steve of Tulsa, Miguel Ramirez of Tulsa, and Aubrey Ramirez of Sand Springs. And, many great nieces and nephews.
The family extends their sincere thanks to RiverCross Hospice and to Legend on Mingo for the loving care they provided in the last two and a half years of his life.
We miss him greatly. He is the last of the generation before us.
A funeral mass will be held 1 pm Friday, August 16 at Calvary Cemetery Chapel.
