Obituary

John Clifton Alloway passed away peacefully with loving family members by his side on Saturday, October 26, 2013. John was born December 20, 1928 in Rainbow Bend, Kansas to Laura Gladys and Henry Alloway. He attended Rainbow Bend schools until the family moved in 1941. He graduated high school from Tulsa Central in 1946. Upon graduating high school, John enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 3 years. After his discharge from the Air Force, John attended Sam Houston University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business.

John worked as a salesman for many well-known companies during his career, including Honeywell and John Zink Company. He made many life-long friends along the way in his very fulfilling and successful career. He last worked for Wells Fargo as a Financial Advisor from 1986 to 2009, until his retirement at age 80.

John was one who truly never met a stranger, making friends along every path he traveled. He loved telling jokes and stories from his adventurous and colorful life. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be sorely missed and always lovingly remembered. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing many courses in Tulsa and around the country. He was a member at both Indian Springs Country Club and Meadowbrook Country Club. John also enjoyed sporting events of all kinds, traveling, dancing, fishing, boating, entertaining extended family and friends, and spending much time with his family and, especially, his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Arthur Johnel Alloway, his brother, Henry Alloway, of Houston, TX, and sister, Helen Jean Parks of Spavinaw, OK. John is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Young Alloway, and his devoted children: Guy Alloway of Carbondale, CO; Michael Murphy of Tulsa; T. Scott Murphy and his wife Cindi of Los Angeles, CA; Diana Murphy Witty of Tulsa; and Vanessa Murphy Hathaway of Tulsa. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur "Mac" Alloway and his wife Annette of Tulsa, as well as grandchildren: Adlai McMahon and his wife, Samantha; Zachary Witty; Laura Bynum and her husband Troy; Tori Witty; Ryan Robertson and Rachel Hathaway. John will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A viewing has been scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30th, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, downtown Tulsa. John will be interred at Calvary Cemetery, where the United States Army will present full military honors. This will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. Memorial Service in his honor on Thursday, October 31 at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa, OK. A reception will follow at Liberty Towers Clubroom, 15th and Boulder.
