John Robert Bennett was born November 15, 1948, to John William Bennett and Evelyn Rose Heller Bennett, in Chicago, Illinois. He died on August 19, 2022, at the age of 73, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, and his children, Michael Bennett, of Middle Island, New York, and his daughter, Jenna Araiza, and her husband Matthew, of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his three stepchildren, Sarah DeGracia of Victorville, CA; Matthew DeGracia, of Tulsa; and Laura Davidson and her husband, Morgan, of Orange, CA; as well as his two step-grandchildren, Hannah and Arielle Davidson. John was a member and regularly attended Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa.

John graduated from St. Laurence High School in Burbank, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University in Chicago. After serving in the Army from 1969 to1971, he worked as a Field Startup Engineer and Technical Service Engineer for UOP Inc. in Des Plaines, Illinois, from 1973 to 1982. He then moved to Southern California and joined Unocal Corporation. He continued working in Southern California at companies including Bechtel in Norwalk and Jacobs Engineering Group in Long Beach. In 2001, he moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to work for Citgo Petroleum Corporation as a Senior Process Engineer. He spent time in 2005 and 2006 working for Merrick & Co. in Denver, Colorado, where he learned to fly small airplanes which gave him much pleasure. From 2003 until May of 2017 when he retired, he worked for Benham Engineering in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral Mass will be at Holy Family Cathedral, 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
