Obituary

John Harold Brant reached the end of his too short life on May 14, 2023, at the age of 73.

John was born to Clover (Miller) and William Brant on February 18, 1950 in Coffeyville, KS. He attended school though junior high at Holy Name and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1968. John played football and baseball and still enjoys annual high school football reunions. After high school John was in the Army Reserves at Fort Ord, CA but did not see active duty. After his discharge, John attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS (go Gorillas!) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1973.

After college graduation, John joined Phillips 66 in the credit card division where he worked for several years before moving into Lubricants Marketing and later Aviation Oil. He enjoyed his work but never let it interfere with his family time. John retired in 2009.

John and Teri were married on May 15, 1987 and made their home mostly in Bartlesville, OK as well as Katy, TX and Ketchum, OK before settling in Broken Arrow, OK for the last 5 years to be near their family.

John especially enjoyed growing up playing baseball and passed that love on to his grandsons who can be seen on the weekends carrying on this tradition. His 9th grade Class Prophecy said "John Brant can be seen daily on TV as he leads housewives in exercises. He always gave 100% in gym and athletic events at Holy Name Junior High."

John was a man of service and volunteered often to help others. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Langley, OK, was a running mentor with Run the Streets in Bartlesville, processed applications for Lab Rescue OK, and was active at Catholic Charities. He was an Ambassador of Fun at Battle Creek Golf Course in Broken Arrow and was a favorite of the other marshalls, staff and players.

There are many things John loved in his life including the Lord, his family, and his friends. He also loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Jimmy Buffett, running, owning Corvettes, going to Florida in the winter, fishing, making beer, golfing and many other activities. His greatest joy in his later years was spending time with his grandkids. He was the grandpa who never said no to playing even when he was tired, getting in the pool in April (brrrr), or being available for special events.

John is survived by his wife Teri, son Josh Brant and wife Alicia and their children John and Will of Broken Arrow; son Jeff Brant and wife Kerri and their children Falon and Nikk of Owasso; son Matt Dodson and wife Jennifer and their children Eden and Rowan of Broken Arrow; and son Steven Dodson of Sunnyvale, CA. He is also survived by his pup Pixie who is missing her daddy very much.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timothy Brant, and his sister Donna Brant.
