Obituary

John Francis Gormley, age
80, passed away on March 23,2012, in his home surrounded by friends and family. John was born in Okmulgee, OK on December 8, 1931. He was the eldest of seven children, son of Johanna Kohlmaier
Gormley and Francis Thomas Gormley. He entered the Redemptorist
Seminary in Kirkland, MO after finishing Eighth Grade. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John attended Oklahoma State University where he
graduated with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with additional graduate work at Rice and Arizona State University.
John moved to Houston TX where he
met Betty "Jo" Reeves. John and Jo were married in 1959. He enjoyed a rewarding career in the design and analysis of mechanical
equipment. His career advanced
through many Industries, such as Oil Research,Aerospace, Nuclear Power, and Product Safety. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation in 1984, as Director of Product Safety, and moved to Tulsa, OK. John is survived by his devoted wife, and their children Katherine Gormley Peterson, and her husband Alex Peterson, and their daughters, Stephanie and Julia, John Jeffery Gormley and his wife Christina Gormley, and their sons John Raymond and James, Marie Gormley Crocker and her husband Stephan Crocker, and their sons Tyler and Alex. He is also survived by his four sisters and brother, Mary Dennehy and her husband, Dr. Timothy Dennehy, Johanna Harris and her husband, James Harris, Dr.
James Gormley and his wife, Nancy Gormley, Patricia Washburn and her husband Frank Washburn, Anne Lindley and her husband, Robert Lindley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Sue Gormley.
A rosary will be held Monday, March 26,at 6:30 PM at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel on 91st Street. A Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, March 27 at 11 AM,
at St. Bernard of Clairvaux, 4001 East 101st St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of John Francis Gormley
to your favorite charity or St. Bernard's Habitat House, or Neighbor for Neighbor.
