Obituary

On Sunday March 2, 2014 John (Billy) Harper left this world. He is survived by his wife Catherine Morrison Harper, son Sean Harper, daughter in law Traci and two grandchildren Taylor Jaden and Luke Jackson Harper. Other survivors are sisters Micki Scheuerman of Southhaven, Mississippi, Nancy Prill and her husband Arnold of Dallas, TX, half-sisters Brenda and Sherry Harper of Jacksonville, Florida, half-brother Joe and Randy Harper of Florence, Mississippi. There are numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born in Terry, Mississippi and lived his childhood in Mississippi. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After returning home he attended accounting college in Memphis, Tennessee. He went on to make a career in the Auto industry, working for GMAC in accounting. After a short stay in Memphis he moved to Dallas, Texas. There he met his wife, Cathie, she had come to Dallas from Scotland to work at Presbyterian Hospital as a Nurse. They were married in the Chapel at the hospital on November 7, 1970. They moved to Sante Fe, New Mexico for a short time, before relocating to Tulsa, where they have resided for 43 years. John continued his work for GMAC, working at several dealerships around Tulsa, until his retirement in 1994.
He loved traveling and was a great travel agent for his family. All the family had to do was call travelocity.
He played golf and when he retired from the game he watched golf weekly on the golf channel. John will be with us in our hearts forever and ever.

A memorial service will be held in John's memory at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel. The family will also be receiving friends immediately afterwards for a reception in the Fitzgerald's Family Center. Burial will follow at a later date.
