John Vernon Heavener of Tulsa, Oklahoma, age 74, passed away Wednesday, May 20th, 2026.

John was born in 1951 in Mena, Arkansas. He attended Immaculate Conception School for 8 years. John received his GED after attending Bishop Kelley for 3 years. In1974, John married Christina Saltigerald in Geneva, Chicago. John worked at Catholic Charities for over 15 years.

John is survived by siblings, Mary Diane Heavener, Adrian Jones, Patti Neff, Raph Heavener, Matthew Heavener, Donna Chisum, Tina Cooper, Michelle Mackin, Michael Heavener, and Kevin Heavener; by children, Elizabeth Christopher, John Heavener, Russell Heavener, Jared Heavener, Joshua Heavener and Katie Heavener; also 13 beautiful grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Fern Heavener and his younger sister, Stephanie Read Heavener.

Rosary will be Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 S Boulder Avenue, in Tulsa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 28th, 10:00 am, at Holy Family Cathedral, 820 S Boulder Ave, in Tulsa.
