Obituary
John Edwin "Jack" Cease, 91, went to be with our heavenly father, on Friday, March 17, 2017 surrounded by loving family. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Calvary cemetery in Tulsa. Memorial service to immediately follow at 11:00 AM, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, in Broken Arrow, OK.
Jack was born on January 12, 1926, in Tulsa, OK, the son of William A. and Rose (Keeley) Cease.
He graduated from St. Gregory's Senior High School, in Shawnee, OK in 1943, and in 1948 he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma A&M University, having first attended the University of New Mexico following his high school graduation. His professional career included working at Public Service Company of Oklahoma, in Tulsa, for 26 years, from 1948 – 1974, and Williams Brothers Engineering from 1974-1990. He had been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Sigma Chi Fraternity-University of New Mexico, Sigma Tau-engineering fraternity, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
On April 21, 1951, Jack married the love of his life Doris June McInnes in Tulsa. Jack and June celebrated sixty years of marriage and raised their family in Tulsa.
Jack a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Pius X, in Tulsa for over forty years, St. Benedicts in Broken Arrow for the past six years.
Jack was a friend to all who knew him. Random acts of kindness and charity were a way of life for Jack. In the last years when Jack required care from others he lit up everyone's world with his kindness and wit. We all miss you Jack. He was a devoted husband, and father, and he leaves a beautiful legacy to all those who knew him. He was loved by his family, co-workers, friends, and caregivers.
He is survived by his children, Michael E. Cease, of Tucson, AZ, Cindy A. DeVore, of Tulsa, Tim W. Cease, of Tulsa, grandchildren, Elizabeth L. Devore, of Tulsa, Samuel N. DeVore, of Tulsa, sister in law, Elizabeth Frye, Neosho, MO, daughter in law, Vickie Cease, of Tulsa, and son in law, Terry L. DeVore, of Tulsa.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, June McInnes Cease, parents, Mr. William A. Cease, and Rose (Keeley) Cease, and sister, Mary Lynn Jeffers Cornwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in his name to Catholic Charities, 2450 N Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74115.
