Obituary

John Joseph Linehan, "Big John", died unexpectedly on December 28th 2024, he was 85 years old. John was born on July 25th 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the eldest son of John Marston and Ella Bourg (Tita) Linehan. He is survived by his sisters Marsha and Aline Haynes, his brothers Earl, Marston and Michael, his ex-wife Karin and his beloved care-giver, Patsy. Growing up in Tulsa, he attended Marquette, Madalene and then graduated in 1957 from Cascia Hall High School. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he played Football for the Fighting Irish and was starting center his senior year. He graduated in 1961. He then moved to Germany serving in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, rising to the rank of Captain.

Out of the Army, John went to work in the oil business, first to Brussels with Sinclair International, then with Atlas Petroleum in Nassau and then to NYC where he was President of Wesco International - an oil trading company based out of NY with offices worldwide. The Company was eventually purchased by Getty Oil Company. John lived his later life in Tulsa.

John was a "larger than life" kinda guy. When he walked into a room you could feel his presence. He knew no strangers. John had friends from all over the world and from all walks of life. He was devoted to his friends and was religious about staying in contact. John had many passions: among them were: supporting the Vets,, model trains, race cars, family and his cherished dogs - Jack and Sadie.
In John's memory, why not reach out and help a Vet, John would like that.
