John Nahra, age 90, passed away on February 18, 2025, in Glenpool, OK at Glenwood Skilled Nursing and Therapy where he resided for the last 5 months.

John was born on September 23, 1934, in Kewanee, IL to parents Faras and Alice Nahra. He graduated from Weathersfield High School, class of 1952. In 1953 he met Judy Nearing from Merrillville, IN. at a graduation party. They were married a year later June 12, 1954. In June of 2024 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and many friends from several states.

At 18 years of age John began working in the steel mills in Gary, IN as an apprentice for 2 years. He than spent 4 years in the apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of Local 697 IBEW and was very proud of receiving a 65-year pin in 2024. He was also a founding member of Local 697 Federal Credit Union now located in Merrillville IN. John worked as an electrician from October 1, 1958, and retired in October 1996 at the age of 62.

John and Judy raised 5 children in Crown Point, IN and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1981. After 10 years in New Mexico, they moved several times finally settling in Tulsa, OK in 1999.

John was an avid golfer for many years. A very memorable highlight for him was attending the 2001 US Open in Tulsa where he watched Tiger Woods play.

His Catholic faith was very important to him. He said the Rosary and prayed daily for his family.

John is survived by his lovely wife Judy, his 4 favorite daughters Diana Walker, Dr. Marsha Nahra (Dr. Joseph Lynch), Karen Johnson and Kathy Nahra Jesse (Phil). His 9 grandchildren, Scott Talbott (Heather), Stephanie Sawyer (Stephen), John Lynch (Elana), Joey Lynch, Daniel Nahra (Katie), Amber Johnson, Bryleigh Monahan (Wyatt), Jon Paul Jesse and Sarah Jesse. His great grandchildren Christopher Talbott, Brandon Talbott, Trevor Monahan, and the youngest, Baylor Monahan. Chosen daughters Theresa Doolin (Chris) and Kelly Orlovsky (John). Sister in laws Lynda Nahra and O'Neida Nearing and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son David, his parents and his 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
