John A. Osborne Obituary
John Arthur Osborne was born February 7, 1931, in Boulder, CO. He died on October 22,2017, in Tulsa, OK. He was a graduate of Boulder High School, Coffeyville College and The University of Tulsa. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a certified public accountant. His accounting career started with Amoco and moved to public accounting with Frazer & Torbet. He found his professional love with The University of Tulsa. After thirty-four years, he retired in 1995 as Associate V-P and Controller.
After retiring he became a social justice advocate volunteering his time and professional expertise with Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, Oklahoma Conference of Churches, Tulsa Interfaith Alliance, and Turning Point. He served his church, St. Dunstan's Episcopal, as Vestry Member and Treasurer, and The Timber's Home Owner's Assn. as Board Member and Treasurer.
An active traveler and photographer, he was a member of Photographic Society of America, Expo Photographic Society, Tulsa Photographic Society and past president of the Tulsa Camera Club. He had over 200 color slide acceptances in PSA International competitions. However, John's true claim to fame was with his family and extended family, remembering them with birthday and anniversary cards and delighting them with his love of Snoopy. His annual Snoopy Tree was a joy to all and grew with each passing year. He had a kind and gentle soul and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jane D. Osborne; Sister, Jerre Sue Vos, Greeley, CO; Brother-in-Law, Jim Elder and Pat, Tulsa; Step-daughters, Rhonda Aud and Cary, Broken Arrow, Lisa Bishop and Craig Marrs, LaQuinta, CA, and Bonnie Bishop and Priscilla Camp, El Cerrito, CA, eight devoted grandchildren and five great-grandchildren plus many Colorado nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Erma Lou Osborne; Sister, JoAnne and Husband Earl Cummings, Boulder, CO; Step-daughter, Paula Fenix; and, late wife, Mary Elder Osborne.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 2:00 on November 4th at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, The University of Tulsa, or Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry.
