Joseph F. Glass was born in Tulsa, OK, to Lucille and Sam Glass on February 25, 1929.
He grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School in 1947. After high school he attended Tulsa University for two years and then joined the Navy. The Korean War was happening at this time and he served on the USS Roosevelt for four years before being honorably discharged. He then enrolled at the University of Oklahoma in Norman where he graduated and then enrolled in the law school where he graduated in 1957.
He went to work in Tulsa with the Rucker firm. With several other lawyers, he then helped establish the firm of Best, Sharp, Thomas and Glass. After several years he then helped found the firm of Thomas, Glass and Atkinson, and served as the senior partner until his retirement in 1995.
Joe was a member of the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations. He served on the executive board of the International Association of Insurance Council, was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers Inns of Court, and ABODA. After retirement from practicing law, Joe served on the Board of Boy Scouts and the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra. He and his wife of 28 years were members of Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums and were members of the original Philbrook Masters Society. He was a charter member of the Summit Club and Philcrest Hills Tennis Club.
Survivors include wife, Diane Love Glass, three children, Diana C. Beeler and husband Jeff Beeler, Grant C. Glass, Tiffany H. Glass and three step grandchildren, Austin, Clay, and Macy Beeler. Survivors also include two step children, David L. Love and wife, Diane and three step grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, and Ashley Love, and stepdaughter, Dana D. Love.
A private family service will be held at a later time.
