Obituary

Joseph Haleem Hamra, Jr., 64, of Edmond, OK, died on Sunday, March 25, 2018.  A celebration of life will be held in Edmond on Thursday, March 29th from 4-6 PM, at the Montellano Event Center, 11200 N. Eastern Avenue.  A memorial service will also be held in Tulsa, OK, at 1 PM on Tuesday, April 3rd at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.

Joe (Joey), was born in Tulsa, on July 15, 1953, the son of Joe and Moon Hamra.  He grew up in the Tulsa area, attending Memorial High School, and graduating in the class of 1971.  He then furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

Joe was an incredible man, full of life, and passionate about everything he cared about.  To say he was one of a kind was an understatement.  He loved his children and his family with a passion and was an inspiration to them as well.  Anyone who knew Joe knew his all-consuming love of any sport the University of Oklahoma played.  He attended every possible game, home and away.  And don't argue with Joey about sports!  He had you covered.

Joe nourished and grew his oil and gas businesses and was very successful in the industry. He was a good friend to all he came in contact with. He also knew how to have a very good time.  Traveling the world became his passion in his later years, with his wife Amy.  He treated his children to elaborate trips along with him as well.  He wanted everyone he loved to experience his joy in life. His exuberance for living was apparent in all he did.

Joe was funny, highly entertaining, the life of any party and welcoming to any around him. There was only one Joey.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Hamra, of Edmond, sons, Trey Hamra, and his wife, Brittany, of Sapulpa, Nicholas Hamra, and his wife, Krista, of Bixby, daughter, Laura Elkouri, and her husband, Shaff, of Bixby, son, Maxwell Hamra, of Edmond, grandchildren, Farrah, Abrisa, and Daxton, sister, Diane Hambric, and her husband, Robert Bierschbach, of Tulsa, brother, Jeff Hamra, of Tulsa, and many other loving family members, and amazing friends.
