Joseph McElfish, 60, passed away February 9, 2019. Joe, to all who knew him, was a unique, kind and caring individual who was admired by many friends, who will miss him dearly.
Joe was a loyal and dedicated worker for The City of Tulsa for 38 years. During his employment, he spent his time managing the Radio System for Tulsa and surrounding areas in the Telecommunications Department.
Joe's greatest passion was his job. He would work hours of overtime, without being paid, until he was told it was against company policy. He was so committed, he had to be told to go home. Joe devoted his entire life to his job; he donated his free time and vacation time to his job! He was the only person who had to be forced to take a vacation.
He was known as the man with "all the radio knowledge". If you'd asked him to write what he did down, it would be so much, you wouldn't have time to read it! If you asked him a question, in person, concerning the radio system, you'd better be prepared to be there all day!
Joe didn't have much family, but he had a very special friend/brother Mike Nichols. This friendship developed years ago when they both started working for the City of Tulsa.
His Memorial Service will be Thursday, March 14, 2019, 2:00 PM, at Victory Church, Tulsa, OK.
