Joseph Stanley Ksepka was born October 16, 1932 in South River, Middlesex County, New Jersey, a son of Joseph F. Ksepka and Anna Mieczukuc. He graduated from South River High School and went on to Rutgers University in New Brunswick where he graduated with a BA degree in Statistics. Joe met Rita after he joined the Navy and was stationed at the Naval Air Training Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was stationed first as a student and then chosen as an instructor in electronics. When that tour of duty was over he was transferred to Los Alamitos, California and assigned to an antisubmarine squadron VS 37. This was a reserve outfit and was supposed to remain in the states for the duration of the Korean War.
So he called Rita from there and said, "Let's get married". She said OK and they were married on 26 June 1954 at Long Beach, California. Unfortunately Joe's squadron was called to active duty and Joe was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Princeton which was ordered to the south China sea to screen the evacuation of the Chinese from the Mainland to Taiwan. As a result of going to sea, Rita returned to Memphis and waited for the Princeton to return. She met the ship at the dock and they lived in California in National City and Imperial Beach until Joe was discharged in 1956
They returned to see her family in Memphis and soon moved on to New Jersey where Joe joined Fifth Dimension, Inc., in Princeton and began his technical and managerial career. There he was their Manager of Quality and Reliability. He moved on to Manager of Product Assurance Engineering at Burroughs Corporation at Downingtown, Pennsylvania and from there went to the Computer Peripheral Division of CDC in Rochester, Michigan where he was Manager of Reliability Assurance.
Joe's next position took him to Tulsa Oklahoma where he was the Director of Quality and Reliability Staff Engineer. That was at the Telex OEM Division of Memorex/Telex. Joe has had further education, numerous authored papers, and many additional professional accomplishments. In 2001 he was still teaching nights at the Tulsa Community College, but often found time for a little fishing, weather permitting. In 2004 he is now retired and spends his time in maintaining his home and gardening. Joe was our rock and will be truly missed and forever in our hearts.
