Obituary

Joseph Timothy "Tim" Spanier was born January 9, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Dolores Spanier. He died peacefully on January 21, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital from complications of cancer.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the medical and pastoral staff of Saint Francis Hospital, as well as the Warren Foundation, who all showed great care and compassion.

Tim's family moved to Tulsa from Riverside, Illinois in 1958, where he finished high school at Cascia Hall Preparatory School. He went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University, where he was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Tim was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by many in his various life ventures. After graduating college, he worked for B.F. Goodrich in labor relations and as a systems analyst.  He next moved on to work at Saint Francis Hospital, where he served as Director of Personnel for twenty years.  He then helped open Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital, where he served as the first COO.  Upon retirement, he owned and operated the Train & Toy House on Brookside and then served as a courier at Midtown Kia.  He was an active member at Holy Family Cathedral, as well as an active volunteer at Catholic Charities and Rachel's Vineyard.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Alice; his two nephews, Steve and John; and unborn son, Sean Michael. He is survived by his daughter, Maggie Spanier of Dallas, TX; his siblings, and their spouses, Brigid Giddens, Alan and Kathy Spanier, and Jeff and Susie Spanier; and his nieces and nephews. You are loved and will be deeply missed. Hi-Ho Silver. May the Force be with you. Go Cubs Go!

The Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, January 25th at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 26th at 1 PM. Both services will be held at Holy Family Cathedral, in Tulsa.  Anyone wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers is encouraged to donate to: Catholic Charities, 2450 N.
